Choosing a Fertility Clinic: Questions to Ask

Live-birth rates are only part of the story. Here is what else matters.

# Choosing a Fertility Clinic

Most couples compare clinics on advertised success rates alone. These numbers can mislead — different clinics report them differently and many publish only their best cohort.

## Questions worth asking

1. How are success rates reported — per cycle, per transfer, or per started cycle? 2. Single-embryo transfer rate — high SET rates and good live-birth rates together signal a strong programme. 3. Cancellation rate — high cancellations may inflate per-transfer success. 4. Laboratory accreditations and external audits. 5. Counselling and consent practices.

ICRC publishes its raw outcomes annually in a third-party-audited report.
