Donor Programmes in Bangladesh: Ethical and Legal Context

# Donor Programmes

Gamete donation is legally permitted in Bangladesh under tightly regulated conditions. Religious guidance varies — Sunni jurisprudence generally permits gamete use only from within the marital couple, while Shi'a authorities have a wider range of views.

## How ICRC handles donor cycles

We offer donor sperm cycles using internationally accredited sperm banks with full anonymity. Donor oocyte programmes are not currently offered. Every donor cycle includes mandatory pre-treatment counselling for both partners. We will not perform a donor cycle without confirming the couple has had time to consider all dimensions of the decision.
